Well folks,

    It is time to release eggdrop v1.6.0 officially as a release candidate
after many delays. These delays though helped us work out a few major bugs
and some minor ones. Most of you on this list I think have tried eggdrop1.5
while it was in development .. well, now it is time for everyone else to try
it out :P~

    Eggdrop 1.6 has a huge amount of improvement over the 1.4 series. It has
new features like the dns module (great for hubs), a compression module for
userfile sharing and tcl scripters, adjustable nick length in the config
file, etc .. because of the number of improvements a NEWS file was added to
the distribution -- I suggest you look there to see the improvements.

    I am urging everyone who is weary of 1.6 is try this version out and see
how it goes for you even if you try it only on one of your bots. I have run
the development version since we began work on it a long time ago in
#eggdrop -- and it works great for me.

    I hope you have fun with this version. Also, many people have worked
towards this release and deserve more thanks then one can imagine .. we have
included an AUTHORS file which you can look at to see a list of people who
in the past and present have made contributions to eggdrop. Fabian deserves
_a lot_ because he has been the maintainer and I believe the major coder on
eggdrop1.5/1.6 .. maybe a good looking single female eggdroper on this list
can go visit him <g>

    Now back to sleep I go, it's 8:26am but I wanted to release 1.6.0rc1 :P~
